Last week, VS Factory announced the production of a heavy weight version of their 12xxxx series Daytona, now available in seven models—five with rubber bands and two ice blue versions with stainless steel bracelets.
Are these heavy weight Daytonas worth it? Absolutely. VS Factory has a proven track record with weighted Rolex clones, like their 42mm YachtMaster, which remains a top seller. The new Daytona models weigh approximately 138 grams (rubber band versions), bringing them closer to genuine Rolex weight.
A common concern is whether the case or electroplating will peel. VS assures durability, backed by their successful YachtMaster model, which uses tungsten steel without reported peeling issues. Trust in their craftsmanship extends to these new Daytonas.
Competitors like QF and APS also produce weighted Daytonas, but they use the less-favored Shanghai 4131 movement, unlike Clean Factory’s switch to the superior Dandong 4131. VS’s Daytona weighs slightly less than genuine (138g vs. ~158g), but they attribute the difference to the band and buckle. A solution? Pair the VS case with a genuine band for perfection.
VS’s pricing is competitive, matching Clean Factory’s standard-weight Daytona (~108g). The author suggests VS could further enhance appeal by offering real gold-wrapped cases, ensuring longevity without significant cost increases.
