Manufactured by GR Factory (with Z Factory producing an equally high-quality version), this timepiece exemplifies fine craftsmanship. While both factories excel, GR often releases Patek Philippe complication replicas faster and at more competitive prices than Z Factory. Though Nautilus and Aquanaut dominate sales, every collector should own a Calatrava – whether the minimalist 5296 or the complex 5205. Having previously reviewed Z Factory’s rose gold 5296, I now present GR Factory’s stunning 5396 complication. Available in rose gold (my preference for its luxurious aesthetic) or stainless steel, this model features a gorgeous brown alligator-embossed leather strap.
GR Factory has established itself as a premier maker of complicated Patek replicas, like the outstanding 5205R Moon Phase I reviewed earlier. The 5396’s 38.5mm rose gold case (note: TrustyTime incorrectly lists 40mm) showcases perfect Calatrava styling with exquisite polishing. Genuine-looking engravings adorn the lugs’ backs – a detail often missed by inferior replicas. The dial’s rose gold markers and hands complement the case beautifully, while the functional complications operate authentically via crown and case buttons. The moon phase (adjustable at 5 o’clock) completes its cycle monthly, while separate windows at 12 o’clock display week and month (adjusted at 10 and 3 o’clock respectively). The exhibition caseback reveals accurate engravings on the Miyota 9015-based movement, shared by both GR and Z Factory versions.
For such intricate watches, I prefer gold models. While the strap features embossed crocodile leather, genuine alligator options can be custom-ordered at reasonable prices from our market.
